These songs were never meant to be together, but ended up doing so seamlessly. These songs were written over a span of six to seven years; however, one may feel as if they were written altogether in order to tell this painfully beautiful story. I started putting these songs together only because I though they did not fit anywhere else. I ended up discovering how much they truly belonged together as I worked on the EP. By Your Side is a story of love won, love lost, and love to come. It dives into the ups and downs of life, the experience and devastation that loss brings, and where to go from there. I truly hope that By Your Side makes you feel, and open up emotions you either haven't felt in a while, or help get you through and come to terms with a rough period in your life. I tossed many ideas for the name of this EP, but always kept coming back to By Your Side. How Much describes how much one wants be by someone's side. Melody yearns to have someone by their side. Shatter tries to remind one that there will always be people by their side, regardless how difficult. Cry is about that moment when you feel like no one is by your side. And finally, By Your Side is that reminder and belief that one day, the right people and the right environment will be by your side.
