about

Yes is the upbeat, inspirational bop on the Show Them What You Got EP (releasing August 21st, 2019). I actually wrote this song when I was in a very negative mindset. I wrote this song at a time where I was auditioning for all these different ensembles, and contests, and trying to get gigs, and I was being turned down by everything. I was even told after one audition that they thought my music was too depressing. So, that night, I said to myself, "Screw them, I'm going to write a happy song, dammit!" So, the song just came to me in a matter of a half hour, and I spent the entire night playing it over and over again I was so in love with it. Since then, it has been quite a crowd pleaser. We shot the music video in Washington Park this past April. I came up with the concept of me just singing the song into the camera while a "parade" of people follow behind me in almost a celebration of "after a thousand 'no's,' it only takes one 'yes.'" This song goes out to the dreamer, and anyone in doubts about going out for what they love, to remember that there will be road blocks, but it only takes one opportunity to make all the difference. The video was shot and edited by my friend, Rachel D'Amico, a Communications major who has just graduated from Saint Rose this past year. The video also features Alex Hitrick, along with about 20 or so friends who volunteered as extras for this video. Even a few of the people were just people we met the day of in the park who were interested in joining us. I feel this song is a celebration of perseverance and joy.

I have partnered up with the American Cancer Society to start my "Say 'Yes' to Fight Cancer" Campaign.
We challenged you- the fans- to share the Yes music video on Facebook! You all did not disappoint! We received way more than 50 shares on Facebook and Instagram, and now here is the song! Every dollar will go to the fundraising efforts for Park of Hope, an American Cancer Society event held in Six Flags Great Escape on July 13th. I'll be performing at the event with special guest Alex Hitrick. For more information on Park of Hope, please check out the link for the Facebook event below.

We hope that you say "yes" to the fight against cancer, and as always, I'm glad we get to Spend Some Time!

lyrics

When the world tells you "No! No! No!"
And the haters tell you to "Go! Go! Go!"
Where would you be if you did what they say.
It's a good thing we don't play that way

Otherwise there'd be

So many untaken roads.
So many tails untold.
There should be no one telling us where we are.
This ain't an easy fight.
Don't let them get in your mind.
We won't stop until we reach the stars.

There ain't no time to second guess.
After a thousand "no's,"
It only takes one "yes!"

So many times you feel without a friend.
And all you need is someone with a hand to lend.
There's a thousand hearts that know where you've been.
The time is now, let your dreams begin

Otherwise there'd be

Paintings without their color.
Sisters without their brothers.
There won't be any light from the warmth up above.
Reach out and grab a hand,
'Cause we're not etched in the sand,
And let yourself know that you are loved!

There ain't no time to second guess.
After a thousand "no's,"
It only takes one "yes!"

It only takes one moment to turn you life around.
It only takes one smile to forget you ever frowned.
Whatever your dream is it is worth all the stress.
Because within your heart, you said "yes."

So, when the world tells you "No! No! No!"
All I have to say
Is "let it go!"

I feel it in my chest!
I swear to God I'm blessed!
And despite all the stress,
I'll strive to be the best!

There ain't no time to second guess.
Yeah! I said:
There ain't no time to second guess.
After a thousand "no's,"
It only takes one "yes!"

Yes it does! ;)
